Southside American Bulldogs: Excellence in Breeding
Welcome to Southside American Bulldogs
We hope you enjoy browsing through our website. We are registered breeders who have been actively involved in the American Bulldog (AB) community since 2010. Our dogs have participated in multiple activities throughout the years, which is why we refer to them as utility dogs. We love this breed and waste no opportunity to promote and educate others about them. We are proud of all our dogs and each dog we have produced. We take great care to ensure our dogs are healthy, well-socialized, well-balanced, and have great temperaments and are of correct type. Further information about owning a Southside family member can be found on our Price & Co-ownership page.
Our Comittment
Quality Over Quantity
At Southside American Bulldogs, we breed for quality, not quantity. Health, temperament, and type are our top priorities. Our aim is to produce quality, family-oriented American Bulldogs with the ability to function and work. We believe these to be the qualities of a true American Bulldog: a family companion with a natural guard instinct and the ability to switch on to any type of work or activity when asked.

- Great structure and conformation

- Confident and family-oriented
Our Aim
Our aim is to produce true American Bulldogs with the heart, strength, and ability to work and perform any task required of them. In addition to being an all-round family dog, we strive to keep the Bulldog true to its original purpose. We breed only the best quality American Bulldogs.
All our Bulldogs are 100% health tested before any breedings take place. They are hip/elbow scored, DNA profiled, and tested for all genetic defects and diseases within the breed. We strive to breed with not only health-tested dogs but field-tested ones as well.

Our History
Our kennel was founded/established in 2010, but our first introduction to the breed dates back years before. As a child growing up in the 90's it isn't surprising that I (Alana) fell in love with Chance, the American Bulldog from the Homeward Bound movies (1993 & 1996), but for me it was the 1994 remake of The Little Rascals. Petey was played by an American Bulldog and he was my first love in the breed.
I met my first American Bulldog at a service station in North Adelaide, South Australia in 2008. He was the father of my very first dog Ava. From that moment I was in awe of the magnificence of what this breed represents, I couldn't believe I was meeting a real AB and it was then that I truly became determined to learn more and have a purebred bulldog of my own.
In 2010 we purchased our first "purebred" American Bulldog named Blaze from what could only be described as a backyard breeder. He was riddled with issues and had a very questionable temperament. Based on our own experience with backyard breeders we soon realised that the representation of the breed in Australia wasn't the best and the standard of breeding practises was some what questionable. We continued to research for months about breeders, types, standards, registries, the history etc. Because our first bulldog wasn't the greatest example, we became determined to better the quality of American Bulldogs in Australia. We knew exactly what we wanted the next time round and by June 2011 we had purchased what would become the beginning of our breeding program.
Southside's Foundation bitch was Hay's Snow Queen. She was purchased from Performance American Bulldogs NZ. Bred by Rose & Stuart Hay, she grew up to be an exceptional addition to not only our family but to the breeding program. Without Eira (Hay's Snow Queen) we wouldn't have the dogs we do today and for that we are eternally grateful.
She was the heart and soul of our home and our lives right up until her last breath. Everything we do moving forward is in her honour. She truly was the greatest American Bulldog.
We aim to keep her spirit alive in each generation of her progeny. She is gone but never forgotten!

The Southside Bloodline
Our journey began with our foundation female, Eira (Snow), also known as Snow Queen, who whelped her first litter on July 4th, 2013. From that day forward, our commitment to breeding exceptional American Bulldogs has been unwavering.
Home - Raised Pups
Our puppies are raised at home with us, ensuring they are social, sound, and ready to greet any situation with ease. We take immense pride in our dogs and puppies, who primarily go to loving family homes. We are forever grateful to these families. Additionally, some of our pups have excelled in various activities, sports, and work at different levels, highlighting the versatility and uniqueness of this breed. They are not just family dogs; they are working dogs too.
